Purely So

With this rug I have returned to the first piece of weaving I made. It was a biggish sleeveless coat garment, that the then teacher said I would not be successful with. Well, little did she know. Though this is a floor rug, it is made with unspun wool, just as I did for that first garment, from UK sheep breeds. The coloured triangles are yarn that I spun and dyed with natural plant dye. The base of this rug is a cotton yarn chosen for its pliability, where normally I use a linen yarn for its stability. When I first designed this rug I also wanted the cotton threads to be part of the overall look. This is a thick and snug rug. It measures 72 x 122 cm
